NIGHT IN THE PAST – Gabrovo 2026
“Night in the Past” is an interactive experience held in one of the most beautiful places in Bulgaria — the Etar Open-Air Ethnographic Museum.
Following the traditional costume festival in Zheravna, which for 17 years has gathered over 20,000 visitors, the ensemble “Bulgare” will now take over the Etar Museum.
On July 3 and 4, the second edition of the event will take place, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising. The museum will come to life with crowds, music, and performers from all over Bulgaria. Scenes from “Under the Yoke” will be recreated, and visitors will encounter significant historical figures. Across an area of 20 decares, over the course of six hours, you will be able to enjoy twenty different performances by actors, singers, and dancers.
The creator, director, and scriptwriter of the event is Hristo Dimitrov, founder of the Zheravna festival. While the two events are quite different, they share a common idea — a journey back in time.
Visitors dressed in traditional Bulgarian costumes will receive a voucher for consumption within the event area.
Capacity is limited (according to the Etar Museum capacity) — 2,000 people.
