“Alive and Well… on Paper” is a black comedy set in Germany in the 1990s. At a time when war forces thousands of people to flee Croatia, two Croatian emigrants, Cinzo and Marinko, decide to do the unthinkable and return to their homeland.
With typical Balkan cunning, the two come up with an absurd plan that would allow them to live comfortably at other people’s expense. But in a world ruled by documents, one ridiculous printing error triggers a chain of events that turns their carefully crafted plan into a living nightmare for the two friends.
In the end, one question remains: What does it mean to be alive when, on paper, you do not exist?
